Animal models

We provide tailored services using the most appropriate animal models for our clients' specific needs. The expertise in this area available to our clients is highlighted by the published research of our CEO, Dr Jonathan Brotchie.

We provide services based upon animal models that allow the assessment of therapeutic potential of novel therapies with respect to;

  • motor symptoms of parkinsonism
  • motor side effects of treatment, e.g. L-DOPA-induced dyskinesia
  • non-motor side effects of treatment, e.g. psychosis
  • neuroprotection/modification of disease progression.
The models that we routinely provide are based upon one or more implementations of the following,

mouse -MPTP-lesioned

rat -6-OHDA-lesioned;
-reserpine-treated
-drug-induced parkinsonism

marmoset -MPTP-lesioned

macaque-MPTP-lesioned

We are continually developing our models to provide state of the art capabilities to deliver high quality data in a way which meets, or exceeds, the highest expectations of our clients.
